Andy Woodward’s Queen Knight Dominates Swiercz

Featured is an instructive chess game between 15-year-old Andy Woodward and Dariusz Swiercz from Round 6 of the 2025 U.S. Chess Championship. Out of a d-pawn based opening with both light-squared bishops fianchettoed, a key middlegame moment arises after 17. Nxd7. Swiercz’s reply gives Woodward a window for his queen knight to pounce, and it quickly dominates the board. From there, Woodward converts his advantage with excellent technique, finishing with a smooth 37-move victory.
