Featured is an interesting chess game between Chess AI LeelaRookOdds and Grandmaster Former_Player on lichess. Leela plays without a queen rook and quickly aims for an early e4. In response, Black trades the c-pawn for Leela’s d-pawn and establishes a knight on e4. Rather than capturing that knight immediately with the bishop to win a pawn, Leela instead challenges it with a knight. Leela’s ensuing queenside pawn play is particularly instructive, arranging the structure so that the entire wing becomes effectively closed. Attention then shifts to the kingside, where Leela has an invasive e5-pawn. A simple yet effective rook swing along the third rank allows Leela to break into Black’s camp. Once a passed pawn appears on h6, Black collapses under the pressure and resigns shortly after on move 33.
