Abdusattorov Ruins Adams’s Rossolimo Attack in 31 Moves

Featured is an instructive chess game between Michael Adams and Nodirbek Abdusattorov from Round 4 of the Elite section of the 2025 London Chess Classic. Out of a Sicilian Defense, Rossolimo Attack, Abdusattorov chooses a setup with …e6, …d5, and a king-knight maneuver to g6. The first key moment comes after 11.Bxc6, when Abdusattorov captures the dark-squared bishop, offering Adams an opportunity to grab material in exchange for Black’s great piece activity, which he ultimately declines. After 22…fxe6, Abdusattorov obtains an initiative. With Adams’s knight somewhat out of play on h4, Black’s queen provokes queenside weaknesses that ultimately enhance the activity of the kingside knight. Its eventual outpost on e4 proves to be too much for Adams to handle in the sharp position that follows, resigning after only 31 moves.
