Dubov Doesn’t Fear Meier’s Frankenstein-Dracula

Featured is a sharp chess game between Daniil Dubov and Georg Meier from Round 3 of the 2025 FIDE World Cup. Out of the Vienna Game, Frankenstein-Dracula variation, play take on a tactical nature as Dubov targets the sensitive f7-square from three angles. After the complications somewhat subside around move 18, Meier emerges a pawn up but with an exposed king. A few moves later, Dubov sacrifices a piece to open lines against the Black king, and Meier, unable to find the only defensive resource, is forced to resign after just 24 moves.
