Anand’s Neo-Archangel Swarms Judit Polgar

Featured is an excellent chess game between Judit Polgar and Viswanathan Anand from Linares 1997. Out of a Ruy Lopez, Neo-Archangel variation, Anand seeks the initiative with 12…Ng4, targeting Polgar’s f2-weakness. By move 18, Anand has the bishop pair in an open and dynamic position. Polgar’s king attempts to find safety on the queenside, but Anand wastes no time in opening that flank, keeping the white king exposed and under constant pressure.
