13-Year-Old Kasparov’s London System Wins in 23 Moves

Featured is a sharp chess miniature between 13-year-old Garry Kasparov and Edvins Kengis from the 1977 USSR Junior Championship. Out of a quiet London System, Kasparov provokes his opponent into playing 11…b5. From that point on, the young prodigy plays with great momentum. Step by step, Kasparov’s attack overwhelms the kingside, bringing the game to an end after only 23 moves.

I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly.
