Capablanca Smashes Spielmann With 99% Accuracy

Featured is an instructive chess game between Jose Raul Capablanca and Rudolf Spielmann from New York, 1927. Out of the Queen’s Gambit Declined, Barmen variation, Capablanca obtains the bishop pair after 8 moves. Spielmann’s decision to advance with c4 to obtain a queenside majority after Capablanca’s bishop has already reached d3 is questionable. Capablanca’s play is mainly positional throughout this 26-move encounter, with a dash of astute calculation after Spielmann blunders with 17…Qd5.
