This is an instructive chess game between Wolfgang Uhlmann and Bobby Fischer from the 1970 Palma de Mallorca Interzonal. Out of the Benoni Defense, we reach a critical middlegame after Fischer’s 11th move Re8. The question becomes how best to defend the e4 pawn. Uhlmann’s choice turns out to be flawed, and Fischer pounces with a sharp tactical shot that demands accurate calculation across several lines.
