This is the 27th and final round game between Ivan Šarić and Magnus Carlsen from the 2025 SuperUnited Rapid & Blitz Croatia. Out of the Modern Defense, Carlsen jumps at the opportunity to target Šarić’s dark-squared bishop with Ng4, and soon f6. By move 13, Carlsen saddles his opponent with double isolated e-pawns and secures excellent outposts on e5 and g4. At the same time, however, Šarić finds counterplay, planting a disruptive knight on the weakest square in Carlsen’s position. With this final game, Carlsen put an exclamation mark on his tournament win.
