11-Year-Old Polgar Shuts Down the Keres Attack

This is an instructive chess game between Jonathan Tisdall and 11-year-old Judit Polgar from the 1988 Reykjavik Open. After 14 moves, we reach a key moment out of the Keres Attack. Tisdall’s routine move Kb1 allows Polgar to provoke a series of concessions in White’s position. Polgar’s knight on e5 soon becomes a strong piece that Tisdall looks to trade off. What follows is an aesthetic tactical shot by the young Polgar, bringing the game to an abrupt end.
