Featured is an excellent positional game between Nihal Sarin and Eltaj Safarli from the 2019 World Cup. The opening is a Ruy Lopez (Spanish), Breyer Variation, where Sarin quickly targets the b5-pawn using his a-pawn and bishop. Safarli’s response with …c6, although popular, is not the most precise. Sarin plays methodically, gradually accumulating positional advantages until a sudden tactical flurry at the end tears down Safarli’s kingside defenses.
