This is the Armageddon game between Hikaru Nakamura and Magnus Carlsen from round 2 of Norway Chess 2025. Out of a Neo-Grünfeld Defense, we reach a very interesting middlegame after Nakamura decides on a bishop transfer to the queenside with 22. Be6. Without a minor piece no longer on Nakamura’s kingside, Carlsen looks to stir up trouble on that wing shortly thereafter kicking off with g5. A double-edged position ensues from there! For this Armageddon game Nakamura has 10 minutes to Carlsen’s 7 minutes. Carlsen has draw odds.
