Carlsen Crushes MVL’s Light-Squares in 24 Moves

Featured is an instructive rapid (10+0) chess game between Magnus Carlsen and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave from the Champions Chess Tour Chess.com Classic Grand Final, Game 1. Carlsen takes a positional approach early on to MVL’s Sicilian Defense with the innocent looking 4. h3. A battle revolves around the weakened d5-square until it is occupied with a white pawn. From there the attention shifts to pawn majorities, and Carlsen’s deadly unopposed light-squared bishop!
