Fischer’s CONNECT FIVE Shatters Soos’s Sicilian Kan

Featured is an instructive chess game between Bobby Fischer and Bela Soos from Skopje, 1967. In response to the Sicilian Kan, Fischer opts for a connect five setup for his pieces on the 3rd rank. Play sharpens quickly after Fischer’s 11th, g4 with the intention to castle drive Soos’s king knight back and ultimately castle queenside. After a couple missed opportunities by Soos to play more energetically in the center with d5, Fischer obtains a decisive advantage after only 17 moves and maintains it throughout.
