Mikhail Tal’s Pillsbury Attack Annihilates Abramovic in 24 Moves

Featured is an excellent attacking chess game between Mikhail Tal and Bosko Abramovic from 1982. Out of a Queen’s Gambit Declined Exchange variation, Tal goes for the Pillsbury Attack. Once Abramovic intends to fianchetto his queen bishop, this attacking idea is certainly one to consider. The attack involves positioning the white queen on h3 where she will coordinate excellently with the kingside minors on d7 and h7. This aggressive queen post paves the way for many tactical ideas, and in this case produced a chess miniature.

I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly.
