Featured is a chess miniature between Magnus Carlsen and Yaacov Norowitz from the Freestyle Friday event held on February 28th, 2025. From start position 172 we observe no unprotected pawns, and many ups and downs in this 14-move encounter. Carlsen’s idea to obtain a big center with 3. d4 is surprisingly not best, but Norowitz doesn’t find the top response. With this fast time control of 3+1, the game is mostly played on intuition rather than any deep calculation.
