I bet you have no idea what the Horsefly Defense is.
Surprise is an important factor in chess, so choosing an opening your opponent doesn’t know is probably a great idea. The Horsefly Defense is so rare that there are only 30 master games in the database.

It’s a defense you can employ against the Bird Opening, with the same ideas white often uses against the Dutch defense. The knight develops to h6 on move one! That may seem strange, but the move has specific strategic ideas behind it and it’s more than sound. Black usually has a small edge!
