Caruana defeats Gukesh D | Freestyle Chess (#381)

Featured is an excellent Freestyle Chess game between Gukesh D and Fabiano Caruana. This is classical game 1 of 2 from the Quarterfinals of the 2025 Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour Knockout, held in Weissenhaus, Germany. Time controls are 90+30. From start position #381, we observe exploitable a-pawns. After only 9 Gukesh obtains the bishop pair and a pawn majority on the wing, while Caruana has a central majority. Both are fairly quick to advance their majorities, and there are a couple really beautiful variations throughout.
