The Greco Gambit was discovered by Gioachino Greco, a 17th century Italian chess player and writer. His analysis was mostly correct. It’s a sound gambit in which white gives up a pawn for rapid development and a potential attack on black’s king. It’s not dubious, and, even with best play from Black, white is perfectly fine.
