Featured is a beautiful chess game with a star finishing combination between Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Artyom Timofeev from the 2004 Aeroflot Open. In response to Timofeev’s Semi-Slav Defense, Mamedyarov chooses 6. Qc2, the Stoltz variation. After the e4 and subsequent c5 pawn breaks, multiple lines of attack open for each side. Mamedyarov, with his better positioned major pieces, finds a double exclam 30th move that allows them to pounce in spectacular fashion on the kingside.
