My First Ruy Lopez · Road to GM, Game 378

The Ruy Lopez is an opening everyone should have in their repertoire. I played the Spanish for the first time in my life in a rated classical game. Opening theory is important, but knowing what to do in the pawn structure you play and understanding the middlegame plans is vital.

If you don’t, you could end up making the same mistakes I did this game.

Bošnjaci Open 2025, Rd.3

This wasn’t a painful game at all. Usually I’m upset after a defeat, but when it’s well deserved like in this game, I at least Know what to work on.
