Featured is an instructive rapid chess game between Volodar Murzin and Fabiano Caruana from round 2 of the 2024 FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship held in New York. It’s a race position out of a Sicilian Sveshnikov with Murzin shooting for a kingside pawn storm while Caruana looks to infiltrate on the queenside along the a-file. Murzin’s pawn storm with g3/f4/f5/h4/g4/g5 makes Caruana blink first. 18-year-old Volodar Murzin became the 2024 World Rapid Chess Champion and went undefeated with a score of 10/13.
