The Caro-Kann defense is my favorite opening. But. It can lead to positions that are strategically uncomfortable for Black and tactically much easier for white to navigate. This game was a good example of just how hard the Caro-Kann structure can be to play for Black. White’s moves are natural and easy, and Black has to play very precisely in order to develop on time before White mounts an attack.
