I sacrificed material for the attack, and my opponent trusted me and ended up declining the sacrifice after a very long think!

Normally I don’t risk this much and give up material if I’m not absolutely sure the sac works. This time, despite not being sure, I had decided to take my chances and try to mount an attack, offering a pawn or even two to get open lines and space for my attacking pieces.
