MVL’s killer bishops swarm Caruana’s Adams Attack

Featured is the chess game between Fabiano Caruana and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave from the 2015 Tata Steel Masters. In response to MVL’s Sicilian Najdorf, Caruana chooses the Adams Attack. MVL’s middlegame idea to break with d5 sacrifices a pawn in exchange for a killer bishop pair and a kingside pawn majority. In this model game against the Adams Attack, pay special attention to MVL’s key pawn advances that allow his dark-squared bishop in particular to become a menace.
