Featured is the round 8 Armageddon game between Magnus Carlsen and Praggnanandhaa R from Norway Chess 2024. The primary focus is the endgame phase, where Carlsen has a strong knight against Praggnanandhaa’s bishop. After Carlsen creates an outside passed pawn, Praggnanandhaa’s king is tasked with stopping it. In the process, Carlsen wins a pawn, but the position remains level. Praggnanandhaa’s final intuitive idea to curl up into a ball in the corner with his king, defending his base point f7, is faulty. Carlsen’s conversion is especially smooth and aesthetic.
