Featured is the sharp chess game between Gukesh D and Ding Liren from the 2024 Tata Steel Masters. The opening is an Italian Game, Giuoco Piano. It’s instructive to see how exactly Ding Liren handles Gukesh’s dark-squared bishop and its pin on Black’s king knight. After Gukesh advances in the center with d4, Ding Liren responds with an excellent sequence that carves out a significant weakness on White’s queenside, which a knight can then exploit.
