This was a complex practical endgame you have to know how to navigate. I didn’t.
Putting it very mildy, I didn’t understand what was going on. In fact, my assessment was so off that I tried to play for a win when I was completely losing. I was a knight versus bishop endgame in which I had the knight and a weak structure on the dark squares, which meant that my opponent had the opportunity to give up his bishop for the tip of my pawn chain, create a passed pawn and win very simply.
He didn’t see it, and I haven’t even considered it. This endgame should be an example of bad play in knight and bishop endgames.
