This video features an instructive game between GM chessmaster2006 and TERMINATOR_2010, played on lichess during a prized event. Although the game is from a Rapid Arena, it was played with blitz time controls (5 minutes each) because both players berserked. TERMINATOR_2010’s performance during the event was impressive, with 18 wins and 1 draw in 19 games. Shortly after this streak, TERMINATOR_2010’s account was labeled “This account violated the Lichess Terms of Service”. The exact reason(s) for this label are not known to me. The game (shown using the realtime feature) began with a Ruy Lopez, Berlin Defense, and after only 5 moves, a structural and minor piece imbalance emerged. What I found most instructive was black’s willingness to give back the light-squared bishop, which allowed black to set the stage for dynamic play. In the endgame, black’s g3 pawn was the key ingredient that allowed for multiple back rank mating ideas.
