When you don’t know what to do in the middlegame, and you’re struggling to find a plan, there is one thing that will almost always give you the right answer – pawn breaks. When you learn to recognize and understand the pawn breaks in a position, it will become very easy to know what you should be playing for, but also what your opponent will likely try to do, and what you should be preventing.

This game was a great example of creating a middlegame plan using only pawn breaks as starting points.
