The Richter-Veresov Attack – Plans, Structures, Patterns, Variations ยท Chess Openings

The Richter-Veresov Attack covered with ideas, plans, variations, and patterns for both sides.

The Richter-Veresov Attack is a rare system opening which black will almost never be fully ready for. That is it’s main upside, since the engines really don’t give white an advantage in any of the lines if black knows what he’s doing.

Things to remember:
– can transpose to the Pirc, Modern, French, Caro-Kann, Jobava L.S.
– white doesn’t play for an advantage according to the engines
– two main ideas: a) a kingside attack with queenside castling, or b) a structural
advantage because of black’s doubled pawns
– main strategic aim: push e4
