Madness in the Fantasy Caro-Kann · Training Game

A tactical Caro-Kann which, in the end, could have gone either way. The position was mad and we were both under a minute.

The Fantasy variation almost always leads to sharp, tactical positions, which makes it the perfect choice for aggressive e4 players. I have struggled with it in the past, and never really chose one line to play against it. In this game I played the most common move, e6, and my opponent surprised me early on by sacrificing a pawn.

The engine gives the game as -3 for me from that point on, but that advantage is not easy for humans to convert cosidering the complexity of the position.

Needless to say, we both got into extreme time trouble and were below a minute when the position reached its climax. It was only a question of who would blunder last.
