Berlin welcomes the first leg of the FIDE Grand Prix Series 2022 organized by World Chess. For almost two weeks, the world’s 16 top chess players will compete for a EUR150,000 prize fund and the right to qualify for the Candidates Tournament that will take place later in 2022.
The Grand Prix Series opened with a press conference today featuring Ilya Merenzon, CEO of World Chess, the organizer of the Grand Prix; Arkady Dvorkovich, the president of the World Chess Federation (FIDE); Marcus Fenner, The General Secretary of the German Chess Federation; Ivan Syrovy, the Chief Arbiter; as well as Vincent Kaymer, German participant of the Grand Prix Series.
