The French Defense, which happens after the first moves 1.e4 e6, is one of the most solid chess openings for Black. In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov will share with you an absolutely deadly trap against it!

It happens in the Tarrasch variation, 2.d4 d5 3.Nd2, named after Siegbert Tarrasch. Even advanced chess players (with rating over 2500) fall for this trap, which involves a Greek Gift sacrifice – sacrificing the bishop on h7 with a mating net to follow.
