Featured is a round 3 game between Daniil Dubov and Vidit Gujrathi from the 2022 Tata Steel Masters tournament. The opening is an Italian Game where Vidit’s 7th move may very well have prompted Dubov to deploy his knight to a3. Vidit exchanged his bad bishop for white’s knight, justifying this trade based on Dubov’s now compromised queenside structure. Central tension soon surfaced with Vidit’s king still in the center. A sacrifice soon thereafter by Dubov would mean Vidit’s king would have to go for a walk!
