Detecting and correcting recurring mistakes ยท Road to GM, Game 206

This game helped me find a mistake I kept making over and over, and which had already coste me several games. I will not make it again.

Ciganovic (2227) – Tomic (1942)
Caro-Kann, Karpov
I A Liga, Round 8

Knowing what your weaknesses are is the first step to becoming stronger. If you don’t know what to work on, it’s very hard to improve. Well, this game helped me detect a weakness. A mistake I’ve been making over and over again.

Now, after analyzing this game, and detecting the same pattern in several others, I will not be making the same error lightly. It will have to be something very tough and subtle which would make me repeat it.
