I hate it when I catch myself saying “I was winning, but…”. Most chess players have the same problem. There is always something to blame.

But the beauty of chess is that it is always your fault. Nothing else can or should be blamed for you not winning. You messed up. You blundered. You are the reason you lost or drew.
