Maroczy against the Hedgehog is one of the most thematic middlegame positions in chess. It’s very hard to navigate, and it’s hard for either side to find a useful active plan.
That was very much the case in this game. My opponent was the one playing more actively, he made pawn advances which arguably weakened his position more so than helped it improve. And that gave me weaknesses to target. I was to weak to utilize the opening he gave me and declined to go in for risky material gain. Or, at least seemingly risky during the game.
Instead I tried to improve my position further and gave him the chance to patch things up.
