Strong players get tricked too · Road to GM, Game 162

I faced a very strong opponent in the London, but managed to play a very nice tactical trick he’d overlooked.

We played a London System which quickly turned into an Exchange Caro-Kann, after an early exchange on d4. I am very familiar with plans and patterns in that particular version of the Karlsbad pawn structure, but what happened in this game, and what my opponent allowed, is a tactical pattern I’ve never seen before.
