This is the twelfth lesson from the course “Fighting 1.e4 – The Complete Repertoire for Black” by FM Yuriy Krykun where he explains an interesting variation from the Alekhine Defense which happens after the first moves 1.e4 Nf6.Â
The main continuation after White plays 2.e5 is to play 2…Nd5. However, in this video lesson FMÂ Krykun suggests a very surprising weapon, a very strange-looking move, 2…Ng8. This move is not as bad as it might look. By playing this move, you can cut down an insane amount of opening theory and drag your opponents out of their opening preparation.Â
One of the biggest advantages of this line is that you (as Black) get to decide how to continue the game. You are in the driver’s seat. In this video lesson, you will learn how to play after 3.d4 d6 4.exd6. As Black, you can continue with both 4…exd6 or 4…cxd6.Â

🤔 Why this course? 👇
The King’s Pawn Opening 1.e4 is the most popular first move in chess. The chances are, you’ll see 1.e4 in nearly half of your games with Black! Sure, you can respond with 1…e5, Sicilian, Caro-Kann, or French… but learning all these lines and variations would turn out very time consuming and tedious.
Moreover, the club-level players and amateur players are aware of the popular openings and the mainlines. They are totally unfamiliar with sidelines and tricky variations – that’s a great opportunity for you.
“Fighting 1.e4 – The Complete Repertoire for Black” has a ‘heavy’ emphasis on practicality and simplicity. It includes not one, but 2 complete repertoires for Black that focus on practicality rather than memorization of long main variations.
