✅ “The Unbeatable Bishop’s Opening” video lesson by GM Igor Smirnov – https://youtu.be/Qb3PWiIbIJs
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov talks about one of the evergreen opening traps in the Sicilian Defense, in the Dragon variation to be precise. You can use this trap against the Sicilian Defense as White. The Sicilian Dragon happens after the following moves: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6.
Black is obviously going to fianchetto their bishop by playing 5…Bg7 on their next move. While anticipating this, you can play 6.f4 to set this clever trap. This is called the Levenfish Attack or the Levenfish Variation.
This variation has been around for a really long time. It was named after Russian GM Grigory Levenfish who recommended it in the 1937 Russian Chess Yearbook. And yet, people start falling for this trap over and over again – and that’s crazy!
