In this video lesson, the RCA guest coach IM Maximiliano Perez will teach you how to build a strong attack against your opponent. Most chess players think that creating a successful attack is a matter of putting all your pieces against the opponent’s king, trying to create threats. However, it doesn’t work that way.

If you want to create a strong attack against your opponent, you have to place your pieces on their best squares to get maximum activity. You have to improve your pieces gradually and then go for the final tactical blow. Therefore, you have to combine both positional play and tactical play.

IM Maxi Perez explains this with an illustrative example – a game played between Alexander Alekhine and Asztalos.
