In this video, GM Igor Smirnov shows you two chess puzzles; they are both checkmate in one. They are a little bit tricky and very interesting to solve! Smirnov decided to show you these puzzles because of a funny story.

Not too long ago, GM Igor Smirnov was with his friends (all of them are chess players), and one of them showed this puzzle. All of them solved it, except for one guy who is an International Master who couldn’t solve the puzzle.

After a few minutes of thinking, he still couldn’t find the mate in one. Several minutes passed and they started feeling embarrassed for the guy. He said “You’re kidding me… This is a prank, there’s no mate in one”.

Finally, after twenty long minutes and a couple of hints from Smirnov and others, he solved it! Therefore, if you are able to solve these puzzles quickly, please accept our congratulations! 😊
