Planning in the endgame · Daily Chess Test #24

Creating plans in the endgame is key, and single moves are often of far lesser importance than long term plans. Practical endgames often feature thematic patterns which can help you win games. In today’s examples, which are both from training games I’d messed up, not recognizing such patterns cost me points!

Endgames are all about planning and recognizing the key features and thematic patterns in a position. Reducing the endgame to “known” elements which you understand is key, and I failed to do so in the two positions you will be solving.
