The Chigorin Defense is a very interesting and very uncommon opening which black can play to catch his opponents off guard and to try and achieve complicated positions in which calculation is going to play a very important role. It is perfect for fighting heavily prepared players, weaker players and much stronger players!

In this introductory video i have gone over the main ideas of the Chigorin Defense, the plans for both sides, and the common variations which white can choose from.

White gets to choose between four different moves. They produce very different ideas and structures, and I will be covering each in detail in separate videos.
