The two bishop endgame is an essential checkmate that every serious chess player should learn. By using the power of the bishops together, you can corral the king to one side of the board, and then proceed to force the opposing king to a corner, where you can deliver checkmate. Although this checkmate isn’t as popular as the King and Rook and King and Queen checkmates, it still comes up quite a bit and is worth taking the time to learn.
