Tigran Petrosian’s First Game (he was a monster)

This is the first game Tigran Petrosian ever played. It was played in his home town Tbilisi in 1942, when he 13. He played the great Salomon Flohr in a simul. It was a Budapest Gambit!

This is the first video in what is going to be a saga on the great Tigran Petrosian, the Iron Tiger of Tbilisi. He was one of the best positional geniuses in the history of the game, liked, respected and feared by his opponents, and for a very good reason.

He was known for his defensive, prophylactic play, and it was considered almost impossible to defeat him. Despite that, he was also a tactical monster, and he would crush you with a brilliant sacrifice if the opportunity arose.
