Firouzja vs Carlsen: The Game That Made Firouzja File an Appeal | World Rapid & Blitz 2019

In this video IM Daniel Rensch breaks down a game from the 2019 World Rapid and Blitz between GM Alireza Firouzja and World Champion Magnus Carlsen.

This game was the arguably the most talked about from the 2019 World Rapid and Blitz not just because of the amazing chess that was played on the board but ultimately because of the appeal made by Firouzja after the game was over. Firouzja filed an official protest (for which he had to pay $300) where he protested about Carlsen saying something out loud in Norwegian, even though that happened much earlier in the game. Firouzja also suggested the clock was malfunctioning. The appeal was rejected.
