In this video, GM Igor Smirnov presents to you one of the most dramatic games in the history of chess. It’s the game played between the duo in the World Chess Championship Match in the year 1987. In this game, Kasparov made a terrible blunder, which was brilliantly exploited by Karpov.
It was a very complicated position although it looked approximately equal, and Kasparov really wanted to win this match and, therefore, he found a really interesting combination which he thought would bring him an impressive victory. However, the move he played was a horrific blunder and Karpov exploited it perfectly!
We hope that enjoy this game. Also, if you enjoy Karpov’s style just as much as GM Igor Smirnov does because, together with Capablanca, these two players have a clear positional style of playing; then, you would also love studying the new course “Karpov’s Positional Style Revealed” – https://bit.ly/2JrDNI9
