To continue the series on chess middlegames, I have covered the thematic patterns involving the advance of the h or the a pawns.

The h pawn is usually used to create attacking chances against the enemy king, and the a pawn is used to gain space or a strategic advantage on the queenside.

I have gone over most common themes in the middlegame in which one side advances their rook pawn up the board and uses that for a palpable advantage.

PS. Streams will continue every Thursday and Friday (except when I’m playing tournaments) starting with today at 9PM!
New endgame episodes out every Thursday, new middlegame episodes every Friday (except when I’m playing tournaments)!
